DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. - Tucson Police Department Officer, Marcos Amado, not only serves his city, but his country as well. One weekend a month and two weeks a year he goes by Tech. Sgt. Amado and serves as a Reservist at the 943rd Rescue Group here. Both jobs, civilian and reserve, he works in the law enforcement field - as an Airmen he serves as a combat arms training and maintenance (CATM) instructor. He admits it's a balancing act at times when he has a long shift, attends a Unit Traning Assembly and then reports back for his police job at the end of a weekend. A government shutdown was avoided yesterday as congress approved a temporary spending bill. The measure will fund government agencies through December 11. As a result, the 920th Rescue Wing here at Patrick AFB and its geographically-separated units at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona and Portland, Oregon will continue with the upcoming drill weekend as scheduled.
