Former POW, European Allied Forces commander visits rescue wing
Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. John L. Borling spoke about leadership, the lessons he learned during his 37-year Air Force Career and his time serving closely with renowned Air Force Gen. Curtis LeMay.
After Vietnam, the general went on to noteworthy posts - including director of operations for Strategic Air Command, a White House staff assignment and Chief of Staff, Headquarters Allied Forces Europe.
Since his retirement, General Borling authored a book called, "Taps on the Walls: Poems from the Hanoi Hilton," which contains poetry he wrote during his time in captivity.
