Rescue Wing activates new flight

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. --  The 920th Rescue Wing officially welcome the 920th Aerospace Medicine Flight during an activation ceremony here August 5.

Until its deactivation, the 920th AMDF was a part of the 610th Regional Support Group. Its recent activation realigned the unit to fall under the 920th RQW, Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.

"Being a member of the 920th RQW will provide us with more opportunities to grow, develop and enhance our skills to support the Air Force mission," said Lt. Col. John Bartrum, 920th AMDF commander.

Col. Robert D. Ament, 920th RQW vice commander, presided over the ceremony. Upon assuming leadership of the flight, Bartrum reiterated how historical this moment was.

"We are proud of the history and accomplishments we earned as the 610th AMDF, said Bartrum. "Now we look forward to and are proud to be a member of a great wing with a history of proven success--the 920th Rescue Wing."

The 920th AMDF consists of 24 personnel and will remain at JBLE and be one of three 920th RQW units that are geographically separated. The other two are: the 943rd Rescue Group, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. and the 304th Rescue Squadron, Portland International Airport, Ore.
