920th Aeromedical Staging Squadron

The 920th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, a direct reporting unit of the 920th Rescue Wing, maintains combat ready medical Airmen while also overseeing medical readiness of wing Airmen by providing annual exams, immunizations, pre- and post-deployment processing and occupational safety support.

Comprised of a variety of medical specialties, the squadron trains and deploys its Airmen in support of worldwide operations including humanitarian relief and disaster response. During contingency operations, the squadron activates and staffs a Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility, or CASF, as well as Critical Care Air Transport Teams, or CCATT.

A CSAF is a 24-hour staging operation that facilitates the admission and transition of ill and wounded servicemembers awaiting airlift from a deployed location to a higher echelon of medical care.

A CCATT, composed of a critical care physician, critical care nurse and a respiratory therapist, is a highly specialized and uniquely skilled three-person medical team. CCATTs augments aeromedical evacuation aircrew and turn an aircraft into a flying intensive care unit when critically ill or injured patients require continuous monitoring, stabilization, or complex care while in-transit to a higher level of medical care.
