Air Tattoo
Zach Tyler, 8, from Oxford, England, got up close to an HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter at the Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford, England, all the way from Tucson, Arizona. The helicopter was the same aircraft that Reserve Citizen Airmen used to rescue Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell from the Hindu Kush Mountains in Afghanistan during a harrowing ordeal that cost him the lives of his team. He was the lone survivor and wrote a New York Times bestselling book of the same name that was later turned into a blockbuster movie. Zach's dad said he couldn't get his son off the chopper. Prince William flew a similar model in a British rescue unit. The motto of the unit is, these things we do, that others may live. (Courtesy photo)

Climbing up
For Stacey Pavenski, 46, post traumatic stress disorder came with myriad symptoms, one of them being nightmares that continued to haunt her until relief finally came in the form of a 67-pound service dog named Memphis Belle. Midnight Sun Service Dogs in Alaska learned about Stacey’s difficulties through her husband Master Sgt. Pete Pavenski's squadron, the 301st Rescue Squadron, and gifted her the jet black Labradoodle in April 2018. Stacey is plagued with PTSD from her husband’s combat struggles that drove him to take his own life in their bedroom, Sept. 18, 2017, while she was in the kitchen. He was 45.
