Air Force Reserve Commander Lt. Gen. James Jackson announced AFRC's safety award winners for fiscal 2012 in a memorandum Nov. 19.

Among them is the 920th Rescue Wing's very own Senior Master Sgt. George Caprioli here. Caprioli was named the Command's Weapons Safety Noncommissioned Officer of the year for 2012.

"The nominations were impressive and the competition was intense," said General Jackson in a memo to Col. Jeffrey Macrander, 920th RQW commander.

"I'm humbled and honored to have won such an award," said Caprioli. Although he attributes much of his success to those in the wing who help him manage weapons safety as an additional duty. "They are good people and they have good programs," he said.

Not only is Rescue a great mission to be assigned to, said Carpioli, but Rescue assets maintain a good amount of weapons to include two different aircraft weapons systems and one human weapons system, all of which must be handled with the utmost caution and focus.

"With a a two-and-a-half-year tenure, Caprioli has managed to take a threefold weapons system program and execute if flawlessly," said Macrander.

"I congratulate all of the nominees and commend them for their dedication to duty and outstanding performance. Winners of the select awards will advance to represent AFRC at the Air Force level," wrote General Jackson.

The 920th RQW performs combat search and rescue as its primary mission. For more information, join their conversation on Facebook and Twitter.
