This winter has brought a new task for Airmen of the 920th Security Forces Squadron--manning the base's gates here during their annual tours and unit training assembly (UTA) weekends.

"We want a better partnership with the 45th (Space Wing)," said Maj. Molly Long, 920th SFS commander. The 45th SW is the host wing here.

Having both wing's security forces squadrons share the responsibility of manning the gates is beneficial to both parties; it allows active duty Airmen to meet their normal scheduling requirements and provides the Reservists with a new experience.

"We want to give people a positive first impression," said Airman Donnell Mitchem, 920RQW security forces, who was manning the main gate during the January UTA.

Approximately 1,100 rescue Reservists drill at the base each month.
