Airman First Class Kevin Frazier has been in the Air Force Reserve barely 8 months now. Newly assigned to the 920th Rescue Wing here, he works in the 920th Communications Flight as a cyberspace systems apprentice.

"My job is to find the problems with a client's computer and fix them to their original operational standards," said Airman Frazier. This can be repairing hardware (physical parts of a computer) or software (programs and files) which are functioning improperly.

When he first enlisted into the Air Force, his job was voice networking technician, however, the career field merged in August 2009 with several others to form the newer cyberspace systems career field. This merger delayed Airman Frazier's enlistment for one year before he was sent to basic military training, or boot camp, at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Originally from nearby Cocoa, Fla., Airman Frazier has since relocated to Jacksonville and commutes three-hours to perform his unit training assembly weekends here.

"Grateful," is how he describes his service in the Reserve, because he said it's something, "I've always wanted to do since I was a kid."

His resolve is evident as he determinately troubleshoots and replaces inoperable parts on computers throughout the wing, then puts them all back together again.

Airman Frazier seems to be a perfect addition to the wing's team and he brings genuine enjoyment of his job.

While a humble Airman, he realizes his important role in the grand scheme, "This career field is very important because the world is moving more into technology each day and without correctly working computers, the job can't get done."

The 920th RQW is a combat-search-and-rescue wing with 1,500 Airmen in many different capacities who support its mission of saving lives. It's one of the most deployed Reserve units in the nation.
