A NASA Emergency Exercise put Airmen from the Air Force Reserve's 920th Rescue Wing out of Patrick Air Force, Fla. to the test February 13 as they exercised their emergency response skills in the event the space shuttle encounters any difficulty.

The exercise is called a Mode 7 because it is one of eight different emergency scenarios that rescue Airmen train for regularly.  The 920th Rescue Wing is a combat search and rescue unit but it has an expanded role specifically for astronaut rescue and recovery during any kind of emergency.
