The 920th Logistics Readiness Squadron held an assumption of command ceremony here, Feb. 6.

The new commander explained how much he has already seen and is impressed with the work of the squadron.

“You already have the skills and knowledge on how to get the mission done and you have shown me that day in and day out,” said. Maj. Ryan Hatfield.

The 920th Logistics Readiness Squadron is comprised of Airmen within eight Air Force career fields who specialize in deployment planning, supply chain operations, fuels, and transportation management. The unit's wartime mission is to provide contingency operations, supply, fuels, and transportation as well as redeployment actions to bring warfighters home.

“I will stand by you and get you every resource you need to be able to continue to deliver combat power across the globe,” he said.

The assumption of command is a military tradition that formally signifies the transfer of responsibility from one commanding officer to another, symbolized through the passing of a guidon.

Based at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida, the 920th Rescue Wing is the only Air Force Reserve Command unit that trains and equips Airmen to plan, lead, and conduct military rescue operations and missions to deny competitors and adversaries exploitation of isolated personnel.
