39th Rescue Squadron conducts Fixed Wing Air-to-Air Refueling training mission

39th Rescue Squadron combat rescue Airmen conducted a fixed wing air-to-air refueling mission with Marine F/A-18D Hornets off the coast of Florida, Aug. 3, 2024.

FWAAR is the process of refueling one fixed-wing aircraft from another during flight, providing a critical capability to extend the range and endurance of aircraft during operations.

As the dedicated fixed-wing personnel recovery platform in the Air Force inventory, the HC-130J Combat King II aircraft is designed to conduct personnel recovery missions, provide a command and control platform and carry supplemental fuel for extending aircraft range.
