Combat Rescue Maintainers from the 920th Maintenance Squadron conducted a 50-hour inspection on an HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida, May 15, 2025.

During the inspection the Fast Rope Insertion/Extraction System bar was removed inspected and reinstalled. The FRIES bar allows pararescue and special operations personnel to quickly deploy or extract from the aircraft when landing is not possible.

This 50-hour inspection check is more in-depth than routine inspections and ensures the aircraft remains mission-ready by identifying maintenance needs before they impact operations.

The 920th RQW is AFRC’s only combat search and rescue wing, whose mission is to plan, lead and conduct military rescue operations and missions to deny competitors and adversaries exploitation of isolated personnel.
