PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Lt. Col. Seth Davis took command of the 308th Rescue Squadron during a change of command ceremony held here June 12, 2025.
A change of command is a military tradition that formally transfers the responsibility and authority of command from one officer to another in front of the unit’s members and leadership; symbolized though the passing of a guidon.
Davis, who previously served as the squadron’s director of operations, also served as commander of three squadrons, including the 57th Rescue Squadron in England, the 58th Rescue Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base and the 342nd Training Squadron at Kirtland Air Force Base. He has a background in Guardian Angel training, employment, and modernization and has deployed in support of multiple overseas operations, including Enduring Freedom, Resolute Support and Inherent Resolve.
“To the warriors of the 308th, I am excited and humbled to have this opportunity. I’m going to push you, support you, and stay fully engaged. We have a mission to own, and I’m here to make sure we’re ready for it,” said Davis.
The 308th RQS is an Air Force Reserve Command combat search and rescue unit capable of conducting full-spectrum personnel recovery to include both conventional and unconventional combat rescue operations.
The 920th RQW is AFRC’s only combat search and rescue wing, whose mission is to plan, lead and conduct military rescue operations and missions to deny competitors and adversaries exploitation of isolated personnel.
