The Air Force Reserve Command's only combat-search-and-rescue wing stood-up its newest Security Forces Squadron, October 5 during the Unit Training Assembly weekend.

The members of the 720th Security Forces Squadron, formerly Detachment One 920th Rescue Wing, joined their first Commander Maj. Vanessa Schoon as she took the reins of the newest security forces squadron.

Col. Harold Maxwell, Commander 943rd Rescue Group acknowledged the 720th SFS hard work growing into its own squadron during the activation and assumption of command ceremony.

"I have no doubt that you will build a tradition of professionalism and excellence, as well as an honorable history," said Maxwell.

Before passing the new squadron flag to Schoon, Maxwell stated her determination and hard work set the squadron up for success.

"I have seen you make the hard calls and stand firm to in your convictions no matter how difficult the challenge, and you have always found a way to overcome it," Maxwell said.

After assuming command Schoon addressed her new squadron and thanked them for their sacrifices which helped get the squadron to where it is today.

"You have shown me that this job isn't just a weekend job and that everyday you bring something new to the table," she said.

Schoon encouraged her squadron to continue being the best at what they do and be proud for what they stand for.

"Continue to strive at being the best defenders the Air Force Reserves can offer while serving the greatest country in the world," she said.

The 720th SFS will fall under the 920th Mission Support Group.
