Flight deck

Trevor Scheerer, 5, checks out the flight deck of the 920th Rescue Wing's HC-130P/N King tanker aircraft during a visit to the 920th Rescue Wing, Cocoa Beach, Fla., to learn about combat search and rescue and meet the rescue professionals. Scheerer and his family were invited by the Gerts family, who live on Patrick Air Force Base. These families are connected by cancer. Finnian Gerts, 7, is also battling the disease. The boys and their families met while in treatment at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, Fla. They were treated to a day they would never forget - tours of both rescue aircraft, the King and HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, and then finished with a "rescue mission" hosted by the pararescuemen here.
