Serving as the only combat-search-and-rescue wing in the Air Force Reserve Command, the 920th Rescue Wing, Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., is equipped with 14 HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, five HC-130P/N King refueling aircraft and one WC-130 weather-reconnaissance aircraft. A highly modified version of the Army Black Hawk helicopter, the primary mission of the HH-60G is to conduct day or night personnel recovery operations into hostile environments to recover isolated personnel during combat. The Pave Hawk is also tasked to perform military operations other than war, including civil search and rescue, medical evacuation, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, security cooperation/aviation advisory, rocket launch support, and rescue command and control.
