PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.- An Air Force HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter is being refueled by a Marine HC-130P/N aircraft hours before the last shuttle launch on June 8, 2011. The HH-60G was used to transport Rescue Airmen here to the Shuttle Landing Facility (SLF) close to the launch pad in the case of any emergency. The HH-60G is also tasked to perform military operations other than war, including civil search and rescue, medical evacuation, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, security cooperation/aviation advisory, NASA space flight support, and rescue command and control.
