Safety on the Eastern Range

PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - Airmen from the 920th Rescue Wing here ensure the launch path is clear of all boat and ship traffic prior to the launch of Space Shuttle Endeavor May 16, 2011. Securing the 1,000-square mile strip of Atlantic Ocean is only part of their job on launch day. Airmen of Team Rescue are also rescue ready if something would happen to the shuttle or astronauts upon liftoff. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Anna-Marie Wyant)
