Making waves at Air Force Week

COCOA BEACH, Fla. - After performing an astronaut rescue demonstration for Air Force Week, Air Force pararescuemen, or PJs, from Patrick Air Force Base's 920th Rescue Wing, pose for a photo as the U.S. Air Force Thunderbird demonstration team flys by Oct. 29, 2010. The endless summer sanctuary that is Cocoa Beach was the staging spot for Air Force Week 2010, a culmination of recruiting magnificence that happens only twice a year at select locations. The first was in New York City earlier this year. More important than attracting new blood, top Air Force leadership were here honoring the accomplishments and sacrifices of all American. With well over 35,000 Airmen currently deployed across the globe in support of contingency operations, the theme of this Air Force Week is Honoring Hometown Heroes. Air Force Week ran from Oct. 26 through 31. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Capt. Cathleen Snow)
