Systems check

PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Tech Sgt. Marc McDilda, an aerial gunner with the 920th Rescue Wing here, goes through pre-flight equipment inspections. Among various other responsibilities, gunners operate airborne weapon systems and perform pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight maintenance and inspections of guns, defensive systems and related aircraft equipment. Saving lives is at the heart of everything we do. It doesn't matter if it's a downed F-16 pilot in Iraq, astronauts who have bailed out from the space shuttle, hurricane victims stranded on rooftops or a fishermen trapped aboard a sinking ship in the Atlantic Ocean. If the 920th Rescue Wing's 301st Rescue Squadron here gets the call, we're going to get them to safety. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Ken Salgat)
