Starting the zodiac

Key West, Fla. - Mcpl Eric Beaudoin, Canadian SARTech, holds the throttle of the 16 ft-zodiac while Capt. Cody Atchison, Pararescueman from 920th RQW, starts the engine. The PJs and SARTechs worked together to unpack the RAMZ (rigged alternate method zodiac) after the 920th RQW HC-130/N dropped it in the water. The RAMZ was developed and is used by the reserve pararescumen here for the Space Shuttle Astronaut Recovery Program, specifically picking up downed astronauts. This procedure was implemented after the Challenger incident in 1986. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Leslie Kraushaar)
