Astronaut Rescuers Refuel
PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - Air Force Reservists from the 920th Rescue Wing here are part of the total-force effort which provides astronaut emergency rescue and public safety support for all manned space shuttles lifting off from Kennedy Space Center. Pictured above, a Marine C-130 refuels a 920th RQW HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter after Reserve Rescuers clear a 60-mile stretch of the Atlantic Ocean of ships and boats which sailed too close to the launch hazard area. The Airmen then positioned nearby on alert status to aid the astronauts in the event of an emergency. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Tech. Sgt. Gilian Albro)
