Space Shuttle search and rescue exercise

PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Pararescuemen from the 920th Rescue Wing prepare for a "Mode 8" emergency search and rescue exercise by learning about the suits worn by NASA astronauts. The exercise simulated a Mode 8 emergency open water bailout and search and rescue operation. Members of the 920th RQW are part of a joint task force that supports Space Shuttle launches and are always ready in the event of an emergency. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Allen)
