An Everest Journey

Campers’ headlamps appear as streaks of light at night in Lobuche Basecamp April 18, 2013. Many Mt. Everest groups now use Lobuche, a 20,000 foot peak, to acclimate, saving a dangerous trip through the crapshoot Khumbu Icefall. This technique provides less exposure for the climbers and an opportunity to add another peak to their list of climbs. (photo by Nick Gibson)
