Bon voyage

PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- A group of reservists from the 920th Rescue Wing here deploy to the Horn of Africa Sept. 5 for contingency support there. Approximately 20 pararescuemen and various support personnel from the 920th deployed in a C-17 Globemaster from the 514th Air Mobility Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakenhurst, N.J. The PJs will serve as part of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and will be in place for personnel-recovery operations along with humanitarian efforts as needed. The deployment comes as one of many for Airmen of the 920th RQW. Roughly 40 Rescue Wing Airmen are currently deployed to Southeast Asia providing life-saving medical evacuations of combatants wounded on the battlefield. Seen here, wing commander Col. Jeffrey Macrander sees his Airmen off as they depart. Air Force pararescuemen are specifically organized, trained and equipped to conduct personnel recovery operations in hostile or denied areas as a primary mission. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt.
