943d Rescue Group HH - 60G Pave Hawk heritage paint scheme honors rescue legacy
Staff Sgt. Christopher Pinney, 943d Maintenance Squadron rescue crew chief, inspects an HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter's avionics electrical system Aug. 6, 2023, at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. The helicopter recently received a two-tone camouflage pattern paint scheme, consisting of drab green and tan colors, as part of a heritage restoration project honoring the history of Air Force Rescue during the Vietnam War. Combat search and rescue men and women, operating within what was then known as Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service units, were responsible for saving thousands of lives of downed aircrew and other isolated personnel deep within hostile territory.
