Rescue Group Airmen return from Afghanistan deployment

More than 70 Reserve Airmen from the 943rd Rescue Group returned home June 9 through the 19th after a four month deployment at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan providing medical evacuation capabilities in Afghanistan's Regional Command Southwest.

While deployed, the rescue group flew 314 missions that resulted in more than a 150 lives saved.

"I'm extremely proud of the accomplishments all of our deployed rescue warriors," said Col. Harold Maxwell, 943rd RQG commander. "While deployed, all our Airmen lived up to the rescue motto 'That Other May Live' to ensure all injured coalition warriors got the necessary life-saving care they deserve."

The deployed 943rd RQG assets included maintainers, support personnel, aircrew and pararescuemen all working together to ensure any injured Airman, Solider, Marine and Sailor were to expeditiously transported to life-saving facilities, so that they could get back into the fight or back to their families.
