Maintenance squadron welcomes new commander
Major Stephen Miller (right) assumes command of the 720th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron on August 3 at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. His unit maintains the 920th Rescue Wing’s HC-130N King aircraft, which are specially designed for combat-search-and-rescue missions. Miller and his maintainers are preparing to care for a set of new aircraft as they phase out the existing model at the wing. He said this transition will be a top priority for him and his team. Air Force rescue is the only DoD entity specifically organized, trained, and equipped to conduct personnel recovery operations in hostile or denied areas as a primary mission. German SAR Chairman visits 920th Rescue Wing
International Maritime Rescue Federation Chairman Captain Udo Helge Fox, visited the 920th Rescue Wing, at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, June12, 2019. He came to the know the wing after awarding wing Airmen with the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service the Medal of Honor on Ribbon for Rescue Missions at Sea in Gold in a special ceremony held in Berlin, Germany Jan. 26, 2018, at the German Martime Museum. The wing was honored for its rescue of two German citizens, a father and son, whose vessel caught fire approximately 500 nautical miles off the east coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida, July 7, 2017. Udo is a Master Mariner and has been Executive Director of the German Maritime SAR Service (DGzRS) since 2001. He has personally made a huge contribution to improving maritime SAR around the globe, working on behalf of the German Government, the IMRF, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union. Reserve Citizen Airman Amputee scores 9 medals
Staff Sgt. Kevin Greene, Reserve Citizen Airman amputee, scored six gold--two silver—and three bronze medals at the Wounded Warrior Games in Tampa, Florida June 21-30, 2019. Greene is a champion who showed the Air Force Chief of Staff, his commander, the Air Force, his friends, colleagues and family what he is made of, but most of all he showed himself that an injury doesn’t have to limit one as he effortlessly won the gold medals in the 100, 200, 400 and 800 meter dash, indoor rowing, and wheelchair basketball.
