PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.- An Air Force HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter is being refueled by a Marine HC-130P/N aircraft hours before the last shuttle launch on June 8, 2011. The HH-60G was used to transport Rescue Airmen here to the Shuttle Landing Facility (SLF) close to the launch pad in the case of any emergency. The HH-60G is also tasked to perform military operations other than war, including civil search and rescue, medical evacuation, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, security cooperation/aviation advisory, NASA space flight support, and rescue command and control. Last time for Atlantis
PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.- Space Shuttle Atlantis is parked on the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center. This will be the last shuttle launch for NASA and for the Rescue Airmen here who lend their help with safety and security surveillance of the Eastern Range during all launches from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Kennedy Space Center. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla.- Space shuttle Endeavour on the STS-134 mission made its final landing at the Shuttle Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center, Wednesday, June 1, 2011, in Cape Canaveral, Fla. Endeavour, completed a 16-day mission to outfit the International Space Station.
