Air Force Reign in Cocoa Beach forecast
COCOA BEACH, Fla. - The Undersecretary of the Air Force, Ms. Erin Conaton, recognized hometown heroes from nearby Patrick Air Force Base during Air Force Week opening ceremonies Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the Cocoa Beach Pier. Central Florida was selected as one of two locations where AF week is held. Master Sgt. Shane Smith, a combat search and rescue reservists with the 920th Rescue Wing is shown being recognized by the undersecretary. Waiting
PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - Ella Woodruff, 5, and her mother, Lauren, of Orlando, show up here and wait for their Airmen, 1st Lt. Patrick Woodruff, as he pilots home a wing HC-130P/N King aircraft after a 45-day deployment to the Horn Africa October 15, 2010. He and a crew of 5 Airmen from the 920th Rescue Wing flew the aircraft all from Africa to Florida with 20 Airmen aboard. The Air Force Reservists were deployed to the nation to provide combat search and rescue support. All together 63 Reservists were deployed for 45 days. An oath of honor
PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Lt. Col. Thomas Majcher (pronounced like "major"), a flight surgeon assigned to the 920th Rescue Wing, takes his oath to join the Air Force Reserve. His daughter, Lauren, a U.S. Air Force Second Lieutenant in medical school in Denver on an Air Force scholarship, swore him in.

Huot (c) in a change of command ceremony held Sept. 11 in The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute auditorium. Colonel Lewis D. Neace, who held the position since 2004, will assume the position of Surgeon General and Director of Medical Operations 10th Air Force at Carswell Joint Reserve Base in Texas. Saving lives is at the heart of everything we do. It doesn't matter if it's a downed F-16 pilot in Iraq, astronauts who have bailed out from the space shuttle, hurricane victims stranded on rooftops or a fishermen trapped aboard a sinking ship in the Atlantic Ocean. PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Members of the 920th Rescue Wing's Aeromedical Staging Squadron recognize the changing of the guard with a celebratory cake during a change-of-command ceremony Sept. 11 in The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute auditorium. Col. Richard A. Huot was welcomed as the new commander of the Aeromedical Staging Squadron. He replaces outgoing commander Col. Lewis D. Neace, who held the position since 2004. AFRC Yellow Ribbon event
Orlando, Fla. - The "story lady" held a seminar here for recently deployed Air Force Reservists to give them tips on talking with their children about deployments. Approximately 550 Airmen and their families from four different Air Force bases throughout the country attended an Air Force Reserve sponsored Yellow Ribbon event at Shades of Green, an Armed Forces resort on Walt Disney World's complex. They received medals for actions that included wading in waist-deep snow in negative 20 degrees Fahrenheit in an avalanche in Afghanistan, restoring order, saving lives and evacuating flood victims in the wake of Hurricane Ike, support of the NASA Space Shuttle contingency response plan, the medical evacuation of Coalition forces in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and the conversion and activation of the Guardian Angel Weapon System at the 308th Rescue Squadron; part of the 920th RQW.
