PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - U.S. Air Force Reserve Chaplain, Capt. Matthew Simpson, is the newest addition to the 920th Rescue Wing here. He is one of six chaplains, at various Reserve Wings, assigned full-time to enhance resilience among members and their dependents. Capt. Simpson also assists the Wing Chaplain in advising the Wing Commander on issues of morale and morality in the 920th RQW and provides opportunities for religious expression, spiritual development and emotional wellness. Corey Hellmann, a Reservist from the 920th Rescue Wing's medical squadron at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. discusses the best way to load a critical care patient onboard an awaiting Air Force transport aircraft for medical evacuation. Sergeant Hellmann volunteered to depoly as a part of the critical care air transport (CCAT) team. The CCAT and aeromedical evacuation teams are a group of highly specialized nurses, physicans, medical technicians and respiratory therapists charged with the responsibility of patient care during medical flying missions out of the war zone. BAGRAM, Iraq - Onboard a military airplane is where Tech. Sgt. Corey Hellmann's medical expertise is most needed. As a reservist from the 920th Rescue Wing's medical squadron, he is deployed from Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. as part of the critical care air transport team (CCAT) where he performs his duties high above the ground. Critical patients are under his care during their evacuation flights out of the war zone.
