PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Ms. Venessa Hord, 39th Rescue Squadron resource management, was selected as the 2022 Outstanding Air Force Aviation Resource Management of the Year Award winner, Jan. 5.
Hord is responsible for managing the flight records of over 75 aircrew personnel for the squadron; along with three pilots and a flight surgeon assigned to Detachment 3. SARMs maintain and quality check records to ensure the pilots, combat systems officers, and loadmasters are adhering to Federal Aviation Administration standards to legally fly; complete ground training, be proficient in use the of emergency equipment on the aircraft, and stay within a certain timeline for flying operations. Additionally, SARM personnel track flying hours and maintain communication between operations and maintenance squadrons.
“Each time a plane takes off, the members on board must be mission ready and qualified. I know the aircrew flight records in and out. I recently generated flight orders for multiple real-world rescues. What I do impacts operations and mission success” said Hord.
Each year the Air Force Reserve Command SARM functional manager receives award submissions recognizing Airmen and civilians within the career field. The candidates are evaluated on how well they perform their responsibilities and how they embrace a whole-Airman concept throughout the calendar year.
“We are proud of Venessa, but not surprised. She continuously performs at a high level. She is dedicated and takes care of people around her, including those who are not her responsibility. Venessa is the kind of employee everyone hopes to have,” said Lt. Col. Paul Golando, 39th Rescue Squadron commander.
The 39th Rescue Squadron operates the HC-130J Combat King II aircraft that carry out the 920th RQW’s mission to plan, lead, and conduct military rescue operations and missions to deny competitors and adversaries exploitation of isolated personnel.
